Topic says it all .. has anyone tried the EBC Greenstuff pads on the street? I know Paul says that Red Stuff pads are 100% track only.

I use them on a lighter car
I have used them for about 30k miles (first set went 20k) on the A4. I think they work well there. The newer V4 formula seems to be harder on the rotors than the old formula but both were much cleaner and had better ultimate bite than the OEM.

Yes. A very small amount of improvement over OEM, but still lots of dust and UNBEARABLE.squealing.
The dust was as bad or worse than the OEMs, and they wore out quickly. I am back to the stock pads for street use- I would not recommend the Green Stuff pads for an A8.

That would be Pagid Orange is track only
And I must say what an awesome track pad.
The front 996 TT pads are about $180 and the rear stock A8 pads are about $180 also!
But they didn't fade at all! =8-)

Strange,
I have EBC Green Stuff on all four. My experience is no squealing at all, considerably less dust, slightly better bite, and a lot more heat tolerant than OEM.
I use EBC rotors as well, it might be the combination that works.

slotted/drilled vs solid/vented perhaps??
Kjella,
Are your rotors slotted or cross drilled? When a pad heats up, it starts to off-gas, and the slots/holes pipe away the gas, like the grooves in your tires pipe away water on the road.
I suppose this could be the major difference between your results and skiracers ?
Dunno, but I hope to find out 8)
I guess cross drilled rotors also reduce unsprung weight? Anyone know if that is the main point vs slotted-only rotors?

Possible ...
Slotted rotors in particular can help to prevent glazed pads, which is one (of many) possible causes of squealing brakes.
Essentially all brake pads made today no longer have a problem with off-gassing after initial bedding, so slotted and/or drilled rotors aren't needed for this, but slotted rotors do provide a bit more initial bite. And you're right, the primary purpose of drilled rotors is weight reduction, but this is generally undesireable on a street car where you want the greater rotor mass to help prevent fade. The pic is the rotor from our Formula Continental, where we are trying to reduce unsprung weight.

different
They dont need heat to work but the feel of the brakes is different than the OEM pads. Where I found the OEM pad started grabbing a lot with a little brake pedal but increasing pedal force was met with less increase than pedal, the EBC Green feels more linear. I would describe the EBC feel as a straight line ramp of brake pedal effort to brake response and the OEM pedal more of a curve.
