one month in to the ownership experience of my s8, i had the chance to drive an s6 which the dealer let me use while my s8 was getting a mal-functioning hid diagnosed.

prior to purchasing the s8 i had a lot of seat time in an s6 and thought hard about which to go with after my rs2 and ur-quattro 20v...

driving an s6 again today just confirmed my choice. while i like the more modern interior of the s6, the lack of steering feel, absence of turn-in, and the relative harshness of the chassis confirm that the s8 is a better and more sophisticated drivers car. the ergonomics work well for me, and the appearance has grown on me so that i like it better than the s6, particularly the nose...

however, i do like the tiptronic of the s6 better, so investigations in this matter will continue. the coding for the s6 is 00001 (after all they did let me have the car for a whole day ;-)), rather than the 00101 coding for the s8.

the s8 is a great car, an underrated car, and i love it.
