So i was traveling to Cape May tonight (friday) and i was on Rt. 55 and under light acceleration i saw the CEL blip on and then off and felt the car studder and shudder briefly (not flashing CEL...just blip) and then a few min later, Thump, thunk, shudder stumble, CEL stays on and all the gear indicator lights come on. I am well versed in the CEL and tranny sagas so i got off at the first exit and shut her down for about 10min. I started it back up, the CEL was still on but it seemed to shift fine so off we went...well 10min late, off goes the CEL. No issues the rest of the trip. I know its tranny related but as i do get the notorious TC drop at around 60mph and i also have some pretty obvious surging/hunting in the 40-50mph range. I have not yet run the CEL codes (damnit i left it at home...i usually keep it in the glovebox) but will report back tomorrow with the actual code/s thrown. TOZO - i will be sending you my VB in the next week or so if this dilemma can be remedied via your VB mod; if not...looks like im in for the dreaded Tranny rebuild. Anyone know a good ABZ tranny shop in central PA (lancaster/york/harrisburg/lebanon)? HELP...Thanks guys.

Most of the time limp mode won't even trigger the CEL. My car had a same problem as yours on my vacation to California. I had an electrical problem. The engine speed sensor cable touched the exhaust and shorted to ground, engine misfired badly. It caused limp mode because the car was rolling sending speed signal. Pull the codes and we can go from there.
