mine will eventaually have all the badging say A8 instead of S8. For now I have the S8 look though..

it has nothing to do with posing as an s8. most of us are just going for a sportier more.....
aggressive look. I take pride in my a8, especially b/c of the increased mpg we get over the s8. the a8 stock is just plain "old man" looking. i still want an 03 s8 though...i envy you guys

A8 mods are fine...I just don't understand wanting to pose as an S8
Lowered suspension, bigger brakes...all good.
Aluminum side mirrors and S8 badges? Nope.
To each their own, but I wouldn't be caught dead in a "poser" car.

Most people don't even know what an S8 is. Those who do respect the performance.
Just 2 days ago, I had a 60-something year old guy in an SVT Mustang (real SVT) play with me on the ride home from work. He wouldn't have wanted to play with an A8, because there would have been no point. He was one of the few who recognize the car and decided to have some fun.
We had fun...because an SVT Mustang and an S8 make good highway playmates.
If you want to improve the performance of your A8, that's great. If you want to lower it and give it grippier tires and a better exhaust, more power to you.
I have an issue, however, with rebadging ANY car to make it seem like it's something it's not. An S8 badge won't make your A8 any faster...why would you want to rebadge it?
It has nothing to do with ego, it's about honesty. I love performance cars. I love having fun with the drivers of other performance cars. I know I can kick an SVT's ***...but I'd be really disappointed to know that the "SVT" I toasted was really just some poser's 4.9l with shiny trinkets glued to it.
Why would anybody want to make any car look like something it's not?
