Wow, 45K for a car with 130k miles? Is the 6spd worth it? You could buy an A8L and a 6spd S4!

Default Sure doesn't look like a 97 to me.....and no facelift cars came with a six speed

It sure appears to be a facelift car on the outside.....and for sure on the inside. Odd, never seen a facelift car with a Nav Plus and a manual transmission......it could be the interior from a 2.8TDI, which came with five speeds......

Heck, if I can get 45K for my car with a six speed in it, I would put it in!

OK, newbie question here. Is there a 6-speed available anywhere for the pre-facelift quattro 4.2? Is there a conversion possible-- and finally-- how much $$$?

Solving all of the trans problems with a manual trans seems like a nice way out when I do finally have to face up to the challenge of a rebuild. I've hopefully got a long ways to go with 77K, but it would be great to have a choice between a 5-speed slushbox from ZF and a manual trans from anywhere.

Default Sure there is.....but you have to design and build it!

Did I forget to mention there are no plans either?

Default That's post facelift.....but doubtful it's a six speed

Probably just a mistake.....if it is RHD, they never made a six speed that was sent to the UK.

PW-- does the shifter and interior on the picture seem to match up to any A8 variant? Was there ever a 5-speed manual or any other manual on the A8 with the 4.2?

I don't have any German connections, other than many distant relatives dating back to the Huns.

Default There are a lot of 2.8TDI diesels in Europe, they all came with 5 speed manuals

Seen a bunch of them on my trips.....maybe they came with a six speed manual?

The only S8 manual that I know of is the 98 German S8, maybe they imported it to other places like Spain or Italy, but I know for a fact that no manuals have made it to the UK on a right hand drive car.
