Hello Gang! I've owned a lot of cars over the years, musclecars, vettes, and eventually a Ferrari...I'm on my 2nd Testarossa. But for luxury it's always been a Caddy. My last 2 Caddys have been Seville STS's. About 2 years a go I decided I wanted something different and unique, and after much searching bought a much driven but beautiful 99 A8. That car had 133k miles on it but the previous owner had spend thousands on upkeep. So the car looked and drove almost like new. I paid $11.5 for it and drove it for about 7 months and just loved it. Well I wanted to get a newer and better Testarossa and decided to sell the A8 and the TR. I actually made a profit on the A8 and got another TR....but I had seller's remorse immediately. For many months now I've been kicking myself for getting rid of the Audi. And I vowed I'd get another one. But I was quickly reminded how difficult the search is for a good car at a reasonable price. After weeks of poking around I'm very very very proud and happy to say that I've aquired another A8. I bought a 2001 A8L...I really didn't want the longer wheelbase car as it looks a little out of proportion. But once I sat in that seat, and drove it...that was all she wrote..and I bought it. I'm just so so happy to have another Audi again!! I just wanted to share my story with you all. Out of all the cars I've owned, including the sportscars, I missed my Audi the MOST !! Hard to believe but true. I'm on top of the world again....

Boy am I enjoying this car. Thank You for all the positive comments. I have noticed one thing though. If I recall my 99 A8 had a factory subwoofer built in and the audio system would crank out sound that could make you deaf. But on this A8L it seems to stop at a "taseful" loudness and won't go the level of my previous A8. Am I imagining this or is there something to it?

coming out of the bass port in the driver's side footwell when I am cranking it up...

It hits my ankle and lower calf and freaked me out the first time it happened.

I have to agree my 2001 A8L has the least amount of bass of my three, and the best sound comes from my oldest car, the 98 A4. Maybe it's the head unit, cause I dont think my 98 A4 has a subwofer.
