Yikes. Is this just since swapping the new fuel pump in?

Default It's just a little weird.

Although, as I like to say, "correlation is not causation". It's just funny timing for it to show up now.

Did you not have it throw that code when you were running with the "7-gallon-and-out" problem?

You have the recirculation scavenge pumps running for the first time in a long time, too. Certainly could be generating more in-tank vapor pressure than you'd had. I'd probably use VAG-COM to reset the code after filling the tank and seeing if it recurs.

If it does, I guess it'll be time to work down the debug tree on it...

Sorry.

Default Worth a pressure test on the filler cap and tank gasket, too.

It's easy to not get that gasket to seal correctly at the top of the fuel-pump-access-hole, too. Mine didn't seal the first time I'd swapped fuel pumps awhile back....

Default No code with the 7 gallon problem.

I'll try and reset. I should be getting gas smells if I have a leak, right?

Will re-check and re-tighten.

Default Less likely to smell gas fumes from that location

That cover plate pretty well isolates the fuel pump access cover from the passenger compartment.

Unlike the front fuel line leak problem-- which wafts 93 Octane fumes into the cabin through the conveniently placed air intake.

Default Also, the fuel sender cap on top of the pump housing.

That little bastard doesn't want to turn all the way and seat with the arrows lined up. Mine was on, but not turned all the way and it made the entire car stink of fuel.

The main rubber becomes a LOT more compliant with just a little shot of WD40.
