I'm in Withdrawals-No A8 for 4+weeks

Many of you might remember that my car got the inevitable "check engine light" about a month or so ago. Upon checking the codes I discovered that the transmission went bad and upon disassembling the pan found metal pieces on the valve body. Bummer. So it was decision time- $9,000 at the "stealer" or look around for a replacement. $3500 for a ZF rebuilt-2 year warranty, $3000 pulled out of a parts car-no warranty, or $1950 for a rebuilt from Europeantransmissions.com -1 yr warranty. After checking the company out I felt they must know their stuff. My trans was shipped last week to them and hopefully should be back to Wisconsin in the next week. (Approx. $260 r/t for shipping.) Rebuilder said there have been 26 or 27 updates to the 5hp24 transmission since '97 and he makes sure the transmission has all the updates and gets tested multiple times along the way.
So here I sit daily listening and living vicariously through all of you without my "four rings" sitting in the garage. Driving a GMC 1500 pick-up. My A8 will seem like a limo when I get it back. I think about "buybeach" and all the crap he has gotten for being a sideline observer. I'm beginning to associate. Well enough for now. Keep up the chats folks! You are helping me get through this difficult time.
Hopefully my next post will be one of extasy!
