Default A inexpensive track day at Gingerman in MI

I've never been there, but I believe it's flat and about 2 miles.

Click the link for more. I stated that I would go. I just hope it's safe, which I would go relativiely easy because I've never been there before and I don't know how it is organized.

About 2 hours from Chicago just South of Grand Rapids, MI.

Jeffery with the S8, you should try out your car!<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/midwest/msgs/3104.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/midwest/msgs/3104.phtml</a</li></ul>

Default Interested in Being a Spectator

I would like to come and watch. I dont know about taking a seven year old car on the track. I am afraid to do thousands of wear and tear or one year of wear and tear in one afternon. I will watch and you guys can squeal your tires are brake dust.

Default Everything you wanted to know about Gingerman, ...

well not quite, but a start.

Gingerman is a 1.9 mile, 11 turn track. Don has raced his Formula Continental at 13 different tracks; Gingerman
is the slowest and with lots of runoff and no walls in the corners -- the safest. IRL and CART often test here
because they're not likely to damage their expensive cars hitting anything hard.

<img src="http://www.gingermanraceway.com/images/track_air.jpg">

To help put the track in perspective, Don's speeds in his 150hp FC are

..................... Avg ... Max
Gingerman ........ 85 ... 118
Grattan ............ 94 ... 130
Mid-Ohio .......... 95 ... 138
Road America .. 108 ... 145

Because of the low top speeds at Gingerman, we set our wings for maximum downforce at this track, which
is why there isn't really much difference between avg and max speed.

Total elevation change is only 40 ft. Turn 3 is the high point, and the track is pretty much ruler flat from T9
all the way back around to T2. The front straight is 1423 ft. Gingerman isn't the most exciting or challenging
track on the planet, but it's probably ideal for the first time ever on-track in an A8/S8, or just for a season
warm-up.

Additional information is available on <A HREF="http://www.gingermanraceway.com/">Gingerman's Web Site</a>, including an in-car video lap.

Default You'd be surprised ...

You can do a year's worth of wear to stock brake pads in one afternoon, but other than that, there's really no reason to be concerned. Shucks, your A8 may be happy that you blew the carbon build-up out of the cylinders :-)

I would recommend swapping to track pads; but last year at Grattan, both escapA8 and docmusolf ran with totally stock everything. Gingerman is really the perfect low intensity (for you as much as the car) track to find out how your A8 really handles.

Default I might join in as a spectator as well.

I would drive but don't know when my TB was changed so I don't want to push the car and blow the belt. Wish I could change it before the event.

Default wish I could go!

I lived in South Haven until age 9. I've actually never been to Gingerman, my parents were friends with the owners, and I know my father has been there in his old UrS4. I'd love to come join y'all, but it's a bit too much of a drive from where I am now :-(

South Haven's turned into a great little 'resorty' town too, if any of you have wives or S.O.s who might want to tag along, some good places to eat on the water (the river, not the lake)...

Have fun!
