Default Installed Tozo'd VB & TPS - hunt is gone, no highway dropout...have a question though...

I still have a thump, but totally different than what's described as highway dropout or "thump" definition described in the link below.

The different thump occurs when coming to a stop, decelerating quickly, right before the car comes to a complete stop there is a thump in the trans. Probably going from 5th to 1st? This doesn't happen when I'm going lets say 30mph and then coming to a stop. Is anybody else experincing this?<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/153542.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/153542.phtml</a</li></ul>

Default How many miles on it?

If you only have a day or two, give it a week or so. It needs time to learn.

Good point, about 20mi, I was thinking of recoding it to 00011 tonight to see if that helps.

Default It opens the TC slower than before. Don't worry about it.

It will re-learn in a couple of days and will be fine.

Default Can't a worn bushing at the rear diff cause a "thump" too?

I heard this once. Can't remember if it was from the shop or the folks here.

I know my rear diff is leaking a little gear lube, but haven't yet gotten around to getting it looked at. There's some seal that's a common issue (I was told).

Default I Vag'd the trans with a 00011 code (turns of DSP) and that I think fixed it - Thanks Paul, Tozo

I think my transmission is almost completely normal!!! Amazing! Anyway, still a few nuances, will see how things progress in a few days...

Default Yup, thought of that too - saw it in Pauls FAQ.....although....

...the car has 51K mi so I'm thinking the bushings aren't gone yet, I think the guy with the bushings had something close to 200K mi. The A8/ZF trans seems to have more driveline leash than most automatics.

Before I pulled the VB I replaced the rear output flange seal that was leaking, the front dif was short about .5 quart of gear oil. I would take a look at replacing that seal on your rear dif - it might have leaked a lot of gear lube.

Default Re:Is there an acronym list for the D2 crowd????

I'm just guessing that VB means vibration damper??? TPS= Throttle position switch???

Help out a newcomer here.

Not yet, but I believe VB = valve body.

Default Turned off DSP????!!!!????

Do you know this?

I would love to see a listing of the functionality of the tranmission coding options!

S8's may have options not available to A8's and vice verse.

help a guy won'tcha?

Cal
