Installing H&R's today....
Do I need to be concerned about the height adjustment before installing them ? I assume that's something I can easily do after they're
in. Paul, I'm going to search for your posts now. Do I need to modify anything ? Thought I saw something about a spring seat modification but that might have been on the A6. thanks !

Absolutely on the rears, the rubber stops are essential.....
to properly align and hold the springs in place. As a matter of fact, the clocking of the rubber stops to the spring is critical- there is an indentation in the rubber where the end of the spring sits. Check my picture poster for some more H&R install photos. Also, it is much easier to adjust the height before they are installed, but I installed them at the height they came from the factory- just be sure they are both identical! Good luck, and get a friend to help with the removal and reinsall of the rear springs if you can.

Ok, what about the fronts ? The diameter of the rubber stop on the bottom is about an 1/8"
smaller than the diameter of the H&R strut ? Did you enlarge it ? In regards to the height, is it
hard to adjust after the fact ? What would you recommend as a good starting point - half way ?
I'll take a look at your pics.
thanks,
Bob

I used the old rubber parts as-is. With a little grease on the shaft of the damper...
the old rubber parts just slide on. They are tight, but not too tight. No need to drill or resize the rubber parts. Here are a couple of photos of my assembled front H&Rs, note spring adjustment height.

Look at the bottom pic here for setting the front height.
From a PaulW post, of course. ;-)
I set mine per this, and I'm very happy.
You really don't want to have to re-set on the car, I don't think. Do-able, but not a fun thing.

Front coilover setup.

Jim, thanks for the pics and advise. Got the fronts on and did the upper control...
arms too. Just unbolt the whole subframe (4 bolts) and the whole thing comes out - real easy. When I do the rears tomorrow, exactly which part of the suspension did you unbolt so that you have enough clearance for the spring to drop out ? I unbolted each side the lower control arm and it fell right out. REALLY hard to get aligned and back together though. Hoping you know of an easier way. The hydraulic spring compressor would work if it had another couple
of inches of travel.
