Default Instrument Cluster **** the Bed

Well, as I started my car this morning the oil pressure icon started flashing. What freaked me out was that the tach was pegged at "0". I immediately went to my local independent guy who siad he thought the oil was fine but not to drive it.

Flatbedded it to the dealer only to find th einstrument cluster was bad. They had to overnight it. The only way Audi would ship it was with my registration and a copy of my drivers' license.

I guess shady used car dealers would buy this part and lower the mileage on high mileage cars.

Default You can reprogram the instrument cluster mileage once

To prevent lowering the mileage, you can set the mileage once on it, but only if it has less than 50 miles total on it (or it might be 100).

Once it goes over that mileage, it can't be recoded. That's why the dealer asked to see your credentials.

If it was at a dealer, and they are going to install it, why would they ask you for the registration and driver's license?

Make sure they set the mileage back to your original mileage when you brought it in.

What went wrong with the cluster?
