Default YGM

Newer VW's have an immobilizer. VW and AUDI connect to the same GEKO system. If your friend takes the car to the dealership he can do the job.

Default Same problem I had, but solved by...

removing instrument cluster, taking off a rear cover and finding the loose connection on a single pin thingie. No idea what it was for, but that connection connected everything to the computer. All was fine after. Hardest part was getting the rear plugs off the instrument cluster so we could have the cluster in our lap. My buddy did that part as I don't have small fingers. Good luck.

Default Not this guy i'm dealing with in Germany! Awesome guy, he's going to take the complete...

sunroof assembly apart and ship the panel and parts without the frame to save me the $600 EUR shipping costs.

Not many people are willing to hammer back and forth 20 emails to get something done for someone. I don't know if he understands JUST how much I appreciate his helpfulness!

Anyways, a8parts.co.uk is also great, but a little more expensive.

They are an A8 ONLY breaker with very specific expertise.<ul><li><a href="http://www.a8parts.co.uk/">A8 Only Parts</a></li></ul>

Default Agreed, but it will have to be towed there

I know somebody posted a procedure a long time ago on how to get a car started that had the immobizer active....some stuff wouldn't work, but you could move it.

Don't you need to know the SKC for that?

Default I've been through this on a facelift car. The big issue is the programming which can only be

done at the dealer. I for one, would not get a used one. The LEDS have a short life span and you'll kick yourself when the odo/clock go black and you have to do this all over again.

I know it works wit da E MO BA LIZER when coding keys.Ive done many a key with NO problems.I think the SKU from the cluster is what you would use to code ecu.
