Default Insulated Glass vs. Non Insulated glass?????

Hello all,
I got a few quotes for my A8 OEM front windshield. Since my car has the warm weather package = insulated front windshield which would cost $427.71 vs $355.xx for Non insulated one.
Are these prices good? What's the significant difference between the 2?

Thanks,

Default Non insulated - it passes cell phone signals much better

And you can use I-Pass or EZ Pass with it.

If insurance is paying, get the best glass you can. Safeco paid for OEM when I asked.

good price for insulated glass (if it really is a true OEM type). As for regular, not that good. I got a "after market" windshield installed for $258.00. Mind you that they used a new seal, of course, but reused the outer trim. This trim alone cost about $150 - $225.

If you want to use a radar detector, cell phone without external antenna, GPS system without roof mount-- go with non-insulated glass.

Default Thanks guys

So insulated glass keeps the heat out or something?
How can you tell when they bring the insulated glass or non- and install them, is there any marking on the glass itself?
I got a new quote for 282.74 NON insulated glass. Will the solar sunroof still work with non-insulated glass?

My deductible is $500.00, I'm paying this one out of my pocket...:-(

Default theraudi1-about the molding

They're quoting me extra $225 if I need these moldings. My car moldings are perfect, if they take off the windshield and damage it, they have to pay for it right? Should I be there when they removes the molding? Are you talking about the chromes on the sides of the glass?

Thanks,

Default outer molding should not ...

be a problem to remove and re-install for a reputable glass place! Mine was replaced twice so far ;( Still used the same outer "trim"

Default Rearview mirror glued to the windshield?

How do they remove the rear view mirror without breaking it? What should I watch for when they do it? I just hope they know what they're doing, not scratching the hood and break the windshield wipers, mirrors and stuffs.
