What does this do and where is it located. Is it performance related? John

Default It's the diaphram thing on the front of the engine

It changes the effective intake runner length above a certain RPM, such as 3,500 RPM, to make the intake shorter, and when you're below that, it's longer which increase torque.

It affects the performance *** greatly *** - If yours is broken, you lose a lot of power.
