Default Agreed

When I read the Audi book that I referred to, it talked all about the parts that just crush on the front and rear of the car and it keeps the rest in tact so it can be easily repaired.

That is basically a consumable in an accident, the picture that you posted.

Default Here's the book

It would be quite helpful, it explains how the body is put together in general, shows the basic repair techniques and has some good diagrams. www.bentlypublishers.com might have it. I would call them.

Is that a quattro? If so, how far did you tow it on a dolly? Also, welcome and good luck!

Wow that looks like a fantastic resource! I'll check out Bently for a copy. Thanks for the tip, Paul.

Default Re: Body Parts Source

I just received the price quotes from Shokan in my email box. Rather lofty! I've found car-part.com to be the best resource so far in locating parts. It's great because the businesses listing have to compete against eachother for pricing. For kicks, I asked Shokan for a price on LF axle. They quoted 245 plus a $75 core deposit. I purchased mine from a wrecker on car-part.com for $60 outright.

car-part.com

Yes, it is a quattro. Before I towed it anywhere, I disconnected the driveshaft at the flange on the rear differential.

Default LOL...Tell me you didn't tow that A8 with a little Subaru!

What was your 30-0 braking distance? Something like a mile?
