IMHO, if you offer something, make it useable. If not, dont offer it. The new A8L would work fine without the cupholder but IMHO one with concentric circles makes NO sense. BTW, ALL Americans do not need cupholders. Autobahns yes but cupholders maybe not!

Your point. The cupholders shouldn't be there just to look good.
BUT: You don't want German Autobahns in America. What's so hot about a Highway which is either limited to 75 mph or (if not limited) has so much traffic, you can't go faster than 50 mph?
On the other hand - if you tend to live at nighttimes, you might be able to go as fast as you like :-)
