Default Just finished replacing the front control arms etc.........

WOW what a difference in steering feel and control! I replaced all 8 control arms, tie-rod ends, sway bar links, and wheel bearings (also put in new brake pads and rotors since the old rotors were shot). The half-shafts are only a year old and in very good condition, so I didn't change them. Big job, but the results are worth it! I sprayed the upper control arms pinch bolts with good penetrating oil for over a month, and the @^&#^% things were still "welded" in. I had to drill them out, but I used a large radial arm drill press at work and it only took about 45 minutes to do them both. Cut through those hardened bolts like butta'. I am very impressed with the response and feel of the steering now- I didn't realize how loose it had gotten until I feel how tight it is now. BTW, first drive- no thumps, no clunks, no problems ;-)

Default Nice work!

Did you use a press at work to do the bearings? How did you do them?

Yep- used an Arbor press at work to press them in- pretty easy.

Why the wheel bearings? Any bad symptoms?

Default I have 120K miles on them, they felt a little dry, and since I had the whole.....

suspension apart anyway, I replaced them as a preventative measure. They aren't very expensive, and if one goes it would be a major pain to replace it.
