I flew to Denver on saturday to buy a 2001 S8 with 59k miles. Black on Black. $22,300.
Very nice feeling waiting at the curb at DIA when a jet black S8 pulls up and it's mine!
The car was as nice as the salesman said it was.
There are of course a few things I would have noticed had I not bought it over the net. But no real deal killers.
While I had planned to travel light, just grab the car, and power west to Park City, the weather report on Friday night said snow in the Rockies. I grabbed all of my ski gear for the trip just in case.
After two hours of inspections and paper work I head west towards Vail.
10 miles out of Denver... total blizzard conditions. QUATTRO ROCKS!! Cars are off the road everywhere. I pick my way thru 18 wheelers, mini vans, and fwd cars. There is no stopping this S8. What a great first ride.
I spent the night in Vail, only to find 14 inches of fresh on the hood at 6am. Eat breakfast, Gear up and I'm in line at 8:15. New car and fresh tracks...how sweet it is!
I skiied for 3 hours, changed my clothes, and had a 7 hour ride home. 80 -90 mph is as smooth as silk. Valintine one is my co-pilot.
Once I hit dry roads in southern Utah, a quick car wash and the black and I are all smiles.
What a great way to start with a new car.

Did you buy the same car that ohbw was looking at, from the Benz dealer? Post some pics when you get a chance, and enjoy the fine ride!
