Default Just got my 01 S8....

One thing my 98 A8 has that the S8 doesn't is the yellow tinted side view mirrors. Those are great at night, no glare! Anyone know of I can get them for the S8?

Yellow-tinted side view mirrors? Aren't your sideview mirrors auto-dimming?

Default The S8's outside mirrors are definitely auto dimming, ...

Unless they were somehow broken and replaced with the much cheaper standard mirror. I believe one auto dimming mirror only (not the whole assembly) is about $300 from the dealer.

Personally, I find the outside mirrors dim too much ... to the extent that I'm often surprised when a car appears out of what's become a new blind spot. I put a small dab of black silicone rubber over the sensor in the inside rearview mirror to disable the auto dimming of all three mirrors.

The yellow dimming has happened to me twice on my A8. The mirror is actually delaminating. The heated portion went on mine first, and then soon after the auto dim stopped working. Replacement for the glass only at the stealer was almost $200.

First time I had it replaced by the dealer - still under warrantee 2 years ago. It started again about a month ago and it looks like I'm going to have to replace it again. I can live w/o the auto dimmer, but I need the heat here in NY. Maybe I'll be really lazy and wait until next winter.

I've found that putting up the rear sunshade accomplishes this as well
