Default Okay, maybe the new A3's design has been conceived or "frozen".

But the new A6's design has not been conceived or "frozen" just yet. And just because the new A8's styling/design is conservative or "less than aggresive" does NOT mean that this will be the case for the styling/design of the new A3 and A6. In fact the new A3 and A6 will most likely have significantly sportier and more aggresive, flamboyant and classy styling/design than the new A8 yet at the same time the new A3 and A6 will not be pimped up and gaudy like the Avantissimo. I am NOT forcing anybody to change their opinion (low or high) of the new A8. I am just saying that it is too early for anyone to bash the new A8 when nobody has seen it in the flesh or driven it. Pictures often do a large amount of injustice for many things, not just cars. I really like the new A8. But is someone dislikes or hates the new A8, good for them. It has no effect on me other than the fact that they are being honest. However, that is always a positive effect, if the only effect, IMO, regardless of whether I agree or disagree with them.

Default You hit the nail right on the head, here

However, IMO, the Avantissimo interior is gaudy. Also, IMO, the exterior is 20 times worse, paritcularly those horrendous headlights and that super tacky grille. I like the new A8's interior much better. Your opinion is the opposite and that has no negative affect on me whatsoever. Quite the contrary. Why? People not seeing eye to eye about everything can be a good thing as it makes Earth a less boring place to be. Plus, you have the courage to express your honest opinion. I respect that in anybody regardless of whether I agree or disagree with them. Because of this, I support your opinion in every way, even though I disagree with it. IMO, the finalized version of the new A8 will be much nicer than the prototype because the interior will have less plastic, more wood and leather and a wider array of genuine wood interior trim choices that are classier than that awful looking light wood trim the new A8 prototype has. And yes the new A8 will have most or all of the new high tech features of the Avantissimo concept without it's gaudy styling/design (IMO, of course).

Default 2Tonic, I don't care what they say about yuh, your alright by me.

Ah ... see your modus operandi, kill 'um with kindness.

As for the Avantissimo, I agree, it does have some "unattractive aspects" ... but I think the Bi-Xenon, and Audi's Advanced Lighting system used on the Avantissimo are pretty darn cool. Also, I would have liked quad tail pipes, they should have put it on the A8, but I guess S8 will get it. The Avantissimo though was definitely a head turner and was the talk of the town at many car shows, the A8, will not be any bodies talk, they will look at think nice car, and move on. It has absolutely no style, whether it be modern or classic, the interior and exterior exude nothing. Don't confuse my perception of the A8 being bland, as an idea that bland cars, can't be exciting and full of personality, it's the lack of personality of the A8 that bothers me, not it's blandness.

Personally, I like the Avantissimo interior I think it looks very modern, and not retro (buick skylark) or that 70's show station wagoness like the prototype Audi A8. Colors aside the new A8's interior still doesn't look all that modern. The Avantissimo interior on the otherhand looks quite modern and roomy, as my friend put it. Furthermore, it looks luxurious, and it has personality.

Simply lining your car with wood and expensive plastic doesn't make a car look luxurious. The Jetta can come with all the trimings, lot's of wood, power everything, even the gear *** is wood, etc ... but I wouldn't consider the jetta's interior as particular luxurious although it has luxurious appointments. What's important is how these appointments are mated together.

The Avantissimo interior is very well designed, luxurious, and modern. IT HAS PERSONALITY. You may consider it a bit on the "gaudy" side, I completely don't see that as the case, I think it's at most forward thinking, but in pleasant way. It looks "roomy", it looks clean, it looks high-tech, and looks impressive. Buttons, wood, plastic, functionality seamlessly flow together. And this mating of luxury and technology gives the Avantissimo a distinct Personality.

The A8 Interior and Exterior flaw is that car lacks personality in everyway which way. The Interior is bland boring and simply looks a mess, adding more wood, or more expensive isn't going to improve this problem. It's not that the Interior looks "messy or cluttered" but more of a hey we got some wood together some expensive plastic together and wow we put it all in and we are calling it luxury. When comparison's can be made to the Buick Station Wagons of the 70's and the Audi A8 of new millennium, I'm left speechless. I do not believe Audi had the intent of recreating the "Family Ties Era" feel when they designed this interior. But none the less that's what they did. I think you presume I'm about gaudiness, and flashiness, etc ... and that is not the case, I am about PERSONALITY (A GOOD PERSONALITY 70's BUICK Station Wagon doesn't count). If your intent is to create a classic feeling car, create a classic. For instance Bentley and Rolls Royce are masters of creating modern, yet, classic looking cars. Instrument cluster design, etc ... help make that happen. The TT as modern as it is, has a very classic, interior, large round dials, use of chrome, etc ... The TT has a distinct Personality, both exterior and interior.

The A8 has no Personality. Great cars whether you like them or not, have some sort of personality, they exude some sort of response. The A8 has absolutely no personality, that's my problem with it, you see it as understated refinement. I don't even think Audi did a good job of that with the new A8. I don't even consider the car refined. Sure it's got some good mechanics going on, but that's about it for me.

No classic look, no modern look, no nothing ... it just is bland. Rolls Royce IMO is bland but the car definitely has a personality, the A8 is bland, and has nothing going for it. You don't see it that way. And that is cool, I just can't express my disappointment in Audi and the A8 in any other way, they could have done so much more with the car, and yet they did nothing, and therefore car seems very much like nothing.

My suggestion put a picture of phaeton and A8 next to each other, this is what I did, personally, I think the Pheaton looks better and has more "PERSONALITY", but you can see the minor changes that they made to the body of the Pheaton to make the A8, changed, lights, windows, etc ... but it looks way to like the Pheaton, it's simply sad.

I'm sorry but Audi dropped the ball on this one.
