Just took the car back from dealer after 3wks that was in for service.

Well, it was the last service opp before the CPO expiration, so I brought it in for fixing the rear headrests not operating and asked them to check for anything else that might needed servicing. My service manager called the next day to say that they found some drops from the front propshaft and transmission.
So, after 3wks in (of which most of the time they were waiting on parts!), here's the list of work done:
a) Propshaft Flange Oil Seal, Front: Found the front prop shaft seal leaking onto the cat converters. Removed the right cat converter. Detached the front of the prop shaft. Drained the center differential. Removed the seal. Replaced the seal. Topped off the center differential.
b) ATF Gasket Replace: Found trans pan seal leaking. Removed the front section of the right exhaust pipe. Drained the transmission. Removed the trans pan. Cleaned the trans pan and the sealing surfaces. Replaced the seal. Topped off the ATF.
c) Found VAC Rod for intake not operating: Inflet Manifold Remove + Reinstall: Faulty design, found one of two of the intake manifold's vacuum diaphrams broken. Found the rollover valve in the intake manifold had seized. Removed the intake manifodl. Replaced the intake manifold.
d) Of course, they fixed both the LR and RR head rest assemblies (motor actuating but head-rest not moving) by replacing both assemblies.
Total cost: $240 (of which $85 was for ATF & filter; and $120 was for A/C Freon charging).
Not bad...

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/55364/dyno01.jpg"></center><p>Now that your manifold valve is working, get it up over 4200 rpm and tell us you feel the vast difference
You have not been feeling the true power at all!!
See that dyno blip at 4200? Notice how the dual action of the valve greatly influences power.

whether the manifold was doing its job 'as designed' since I hadn't driven another S8 side-by-side for comparison. Now I can experiment with higher RPMs and see what the diff is -- I'm sure it's 0.5secs off the 0-60mph :-)
Nice chart, thanks for sharing.
On the point about the trans, I was equally skeptical--this was the same service manager that last year had talked me out of doing the ATF fluid & filter change, while now he suggested that since they were changing the seals and had the pan down, they might as well do the filter & fluid change. I cautioned him 3x about the proper level of ATF; emailed him Paul's write-up and the link to AudiPages. We'll see if they've done it properly. At least I bought from the dealer a 2yr/24k mil extended warranty prior to CPO-expiring, so I'm sleeping better for now
