To keep or to sell???

OK, after several years of happy ownership, I am considering upgrading to a newer A8 or even a Phaeton. My 01 SWB has 85k, and just came off a CPO warranty back in the spring and its in excellent shape and completely up to date. Actually just did the 80k maintaince a month or so ago myself.
One day I think I will keep it and avoid the $$ a new purchase would incur, while the next day, I also realize that if I don't make a move soon, I will likely need to keep for an extended period of time.
The Phaeton is an interesting choice and an incredable value in the used market.
Thoughts?

Phaeton's look like a great bargain but remember, this is still a VW. This company (who can't get window regulators, coilpacks, MAFs and O2 sensors to work right) tried to make a car that would compete with the S-class.
I got a chance to 'visit' one for 2 days. I really liked the car, it was completely comfortable, felt REALLY solid, quiet as a church on the highway, the first impression was great!
However, that same car now has around 30,000 miles and has been back at the dealership 11 times for numerous electrical problems. SAT-NAV has never worked properly, trunk refuses to open by key, but it will open in the middle of the night sometimes on its own (the car is garaged) among other things.
I think it's a beautiful car, I actually prefer its subtle looks to the D3 A8. However, I really wish that we got the SWB version here. That would've been nice! But the problems with them can be nothing or they can be monumental.
If you have a good eye, you can probably find a great deal.

He drives a loaner all the time. His engine overheated for 10 months and they couldn't fix it. The dealer don't have enough qualified technician for the car. The instrument cluster failed. The steering wheel shakes when you turn off the car. He already has rust problems. VW offered him $15K just to shut him up. He is suing them because his car (3years/28K miles) is basically worthless. He can't get extended warranty on it because of all the dealer visits. The car was in the shop for over 14 months all together. I would buy his for $5K, but only because I have access to a shop.
