My '00 with 123K is thumping when coming to a stop. I know there is a calibration I can do to smooth things out, but figured it is time for a fluid and filter change anyway.
So, does anyone have long-term experience with Redline D4 ATF? Is Pentosin the best stuff to use?
And a question my ex-governor never asked: Where can I get it cheap?
P.S. Germanautoparts.com has the 99-03 filter, filter seal and pan gasket as a kit for $28.

Just did (3 weeks ago) an 85,000 mile transmission service on an 01 A8l. It was starting to whine.
Parts store suggested Red Line D4. Decided to try it.
So far it is fantastic.
Also recoded the transmission.
Very satisified.

Please choose ATF fluid with confidence that ANY of the primium synthetics will meet or exceed the requirements of the ZF transmissions found in the A8!
I use Amsoil. Works fine
