My D3 (#0949) has the following MMI and Nav System Versions (although I'm not sure how to read the version info)
Navigation
Media Version: USA_0150_1550
Data Bank Version: 25E/0.04/20021221101334
MMI
SW: D3-HU.634601.5.0.0316
HW: D3-HU.6343D2.0
FC SW: 02254A7FC78K0F46f
FC HW: 1.0
Can anyone decipher the above, and also let me know how "out of date" this system is? Does anyone know what the cost for updating the Nav DVD is?
Regarding my D3, the only problem I've experienced is a light sensor failure and the tech's first attemp to replace/repair failed, so a new part is on order from Germany, supposedly a high priority order, but it's been 2 weeks. I'm glad I'm not on life support!!
The other minor problems I posted earlier have all been satisfactorily resolved. Great car, love driving it, and like the fact that there aren't thousands of other ones out there. Kind of like my 1960 356 B Roadster. Every time I take it out, it catches the eyes.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas, and an even more prosperous New Year

I bought my Audi A8L this past Saturday. I have 500 miles on it. Everything works fine so far. I've been following this forum for the last 3 months -- since I ordered the car. That was helpful to me because I specifically was looking or certain problems. The fact of the matter is that most of the "problems" folks were reporting were well describe in the car guide and were actually not problems at all. When I picked up the car I was reassured that it had the latest updates.
FCSW# was different than yours: 02332AUFC78KOF46n
Everything else was the same.
Hope that helps.

Thanks. Now if I only knew how to interpret the numbers. Looks like you might have a newer version. I've been told that there would be a software update in Jan '04. Maybe you already have it.
Congrats on your new car. Although I have yet to post any pics, I have 4000+ miles on a black with sand beige interior, 18" wheels, and all other options, cept back climate control and solar sunroof. Any pics or description available on your new car?
I tend to agree with you regarding some of the complaints on this forum, i.e., many of the answers are in the owner's manual or MMI manual. However there are a few quirks that need attention, e.g., a pause for the CD. One should not have to switch to the radio, then mute the radio. The MMI should recognize that when the driver pushes the mute button, that should also stop CD. The other is a current generation mobile phone fully integrated with MMI (Lots of posts on this topic).
It seems to me that these would be relatively easy fixes, and should be available to the D3 pioneer owners at no cost. Software companies compensate the beta testers. It seems that AoA should do the same for its beta testers. ;-)
