Default Lazy Sunday at the Denver Auto Show: my future and my past, side by side.

Darlene! My 10th grade girlfriend! Elegantly commemorating the place where our love began...

I swear I meant to say hello, but I got distracted by a wicked little German reclining nude nearby:

If you haven't seen the R8 in person yet, I'm here to tell you that it makes everything else in the automotive world appear Edsel-ish by comparison. It looks like a Gallardo had a procreative threesome with a 911TT and your favorite Hot Wheels car. Standing at the driver's door, I was sure I could lean on one leg and touch the taillight, then on the other and touch the headlight. I tried to tuck it in my watch pocket and leave, but security stopped me at the door. It makes the Darlenes of the world ooh and aah. It makes a C4S look stodgy. The crowd around it was usually four deep while 3 Lambos sulked in solitude 50 feet away.

I also sat in a new A8 and thought again how far ahead of everyone else Audi is in building interiors. The Lexoids look early 90's inside, entirely deserving of gold badging on the exterior, and even the MB CLS and S550 cockpits, decent if you've never been in an Audi, look overdone and under-realized by comparison.

For your amusement, the dash of the Infiniti G37, a car I once thought, from a distance and its' great reviews, that I might be willing to own. $43K for dials from a gaming arcade:

Yikes. Let's close on a high note...

There's more workmanship & attention to detail in the tattoo than ever went into the car itself!

I agree. Every other carmaker's interiors look like crap to an Audi (especially an A8) owner.

That was NYIAS last week, I didn't want to reduce anyone to quivering globs of drool here 8-). Forgive the blur, had my stupid SonyV1 with me as digital SLR too bluky to train/cab around with unfort.

How the ARF that thing is f'n legal in that color scheme is beyond any comprehension. It was f'n BLINDING. The polished side blades were off the HOOK bright. Imagine this thing in the sunlight? While the wheels are a bit too thin / trendy, and nearly blingychrome for my tastes, the polished "belt" around the bottom was whey cool. Not a fan of integrated exhaust tips, and these are a bit Star Trek shaped for my liking - but - who TF cares???

What presence this thing had... actually reduced the white / carbon "pedestrian" R8 behind it to nearly Kia-status! The roof intake is beyond cool, and the carbon buttresses that fly up under that glass rear hatch and integrate / terminate into said intake was something to behold.

Unfrickinbelievable. I got goosebumps merely in its vacinity and was rendered to an acute inability to form cognitive thought. Yeowsers.

Baloney, "sign here"???

Soooo, anyone care to see the neu GT2 or AM DBS 8-)?
