What is intersting is if you read the the posts by the BMW fans on the post (I am a former 740i sreies owner). They are enthralled with the design and think it absolutely brilliant. I suppose the objectivity is simply not there.

Here's a visual comparison of the rear ends of the new 5 series to the new A8. Notice all of the intersecting lines as well as the four parallel horzontal creases. Combined, it makes for a very busy appearance. Also note the size of the gaps between body panels (arrows) especially the long horizontal one that runs from the wheel well to the tail light- is this supposed to be German fit and finish? For comparison, look at the almost invisible gap in the vertical joint between the rear fender and rear bumper on the A8. The 5 series almost looks like an American racer-boy design (Pontiac?).

The A6 has those bumper covers that don't go with the body panels, plus they never seem to be the same color as the body panels, probably because they are plastic, and the other panels are metal.
