After looking around for a while I have decided to try to get a used A8, '99? The problem is I live in Nebraska and the Audi dealer in Omaha was way less than helpful. (No A8 how about an A6 instead.) I have a contact that can get one for me from auction or off lease, but he is not an Audi dealer. My question is is there anyway to get the Audi Assured if I don't purchase from a dealer, is it more risky getting one that way and can anyone compare the A8 ride to the BMW 740il.

cannot get the audi assued unless you get it from a dealer. If you are looking at a BMW 740il, then you have never driven an A8 IMHO.

bd, here's what I did:

and here's some pricing info.

That points to my post in a thread, you should probably also read the other posts in that thread.
I don't know how you swing the Audi Assured deal if you're buying at auction. Good luck!

Your right there are none to be found to drive!Nearest dealer A8 is around 200 miles away. I'm doing this somewhat as a leap of faith from the reviews and threads that I have read. What I like is the AWD, the weather here can be less than ideal. If the ride is sooth and quiet and the engine performs like I've been reading then I'll try to get one and get the best coverage I can through a different program

I just bought a 2001 A8L by having a dealer buy it at auction. I paid the auction sale price, + dealer costs for the inspection and Audi Assurance, + $2000. Turned out to be about wholesale price, which I thought was fabulous. Try to find a dealer who will do this for you. Many dealers go to the auctions for cars to put on their lot, and might be willing to do a quick turnaround on a car for you. You can even get the "run list" showing the cars by model, with mileage and VIN prior to an auction.
