Default Luck or Fate? Coolant leak after 1400 mile drive.....

So got to Colorado last night. Even 20 hours in the A8 gets old. With the warm weather package the V1 dosen't work either :-( 65mph speed limits in KY and IL suck! Saw 8 troopers driving through KS yesterday to. The A8 runs nice at 125, just a quick run it up in CO when I finaly had about 2 miles of road to myself, didnt last long though.

The bad news. Got a perty good coolant leak this morning. Passenger side. Drip, drip, got a good puddle on the inlaws driveway alreay. I guess its the oil cooler. I even have the parts with me, red pensiston and all.

Is there anything else on that side of the car that could be leaking coolant? Seems to be coming from around the oil cooler.

So is it Luck or Fate that I have all my tools with me and everything I need to do the job but some M1 oil?

Britt

Default 99% it's the oil cooler plastic pipe cracked. Where in CO are you?

If there's any way, I would do the TB service at the same time. A lot of the work needed to do the oil cooler is needed for the TB service as well.

Default I'd disagree with that.

I did them at the same time, and was surprised at how little was common to the two procedures.

Default My thoughts are that once you get the front end off and the.....

radiator and engine mount out of the way, you might as well get the TB done at the same time. Certainly it will add several hours to the process, but you will save having to do the aforementioned operations over again.

Default You don't need to do those first two things, to do the oil cooler.

Default I tend to agree with skiracer....

Having done this myself, I did the oil cooler while also doing the TB job and I must say, even though it may be possible to do the oil cooler job without taking the front end off, I would wager to say it would be much more difficult and time consuming. If it were me with my luck, I would try to do the oil cooler without removing the front end and I would end up getting frustrated and stuck and then take the front end off anyway to free up working room. Just do it all at once, you will be happy you did.

Default skiracer- I'm currently in south east Parker at my inlaws.....

out on singing hills road and county rd 13 about 6 miles north of elizabeth.

I had planed to do the TB job while I was here, but Blau dosent have any of the tool kits in yet (orginaly planed to do the job over the last holiday weekend before the trip.)

I have all the TB parts with me too!

I have to be up in Fort Collins all next week for work and then a wedding on Sat.

Just a Sunday afternoon project. At least its not 95 and 90% humidity like its been in Alabama as of late. And I have all the parts I need!

Default TB tools...

Have you checked with Paul? He has 2 sets. If he is out and you can't get them from Blau, I also have a full set of TB tools for the 32V motor. I will rent them for the same as Paul, I am not trying to compete, just offering in case you can't find a set soon. Let me know soon, I will be out of the country for 2 weeks from June 19th to July 5th.
