Default misfire or hunting

while lightly accelerating between speeds of 35-50mph.. tach "hiccups" between 1700-2000rpms... kinda like on-off-on-off with a bathroom water facet.

any ideas?? i've already added some fuel injector cleaner, just slight improvement.. thinking about some bosch +4 sparkplugs this weekend if i can find them, but if it's tranny i'm screwed
