What happens if at 72-75 mph you shift to N? Or shift to 4, holding speed? Sorry if you already said

Default It was kind of complicated but-p1136 translated to 17544 which as you can see refers you to

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/96745/fault_find_for_p1136.jpg"></center><p>
16536 in fault remedy then this refers to 16516 which suggests an issue with "wait for it" the O2 sensor-see table attached.
Suggest replacement of sensors if you havent already.
This made a huge differenc to my car for $100.00

Default here is what the other codes translated to-remember though that some

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/96745/other_codes.jpg"></center><p>may be cause and other effect but at least in theory if you follow this through your issue will be amongst this almost certainly.
Print these and give them to the Tech if he is not to proud.
It comes from the Elsa manuals for your year of A8

Default I agree it is unlikely the problem but mine was filthy at 124000kms and I replaced as a

matter of course while repairing evap/pump etc asI figured it was a cheap component and one less thing to give grief.

Default well, i've had my entire Driveshaft replaced so if the CB is attached to it...its new...

Also, i doubt it could be that as this vibration and (intermittent) misfires codes only occur at 72-75mph in 5th gear or at 60mph in 4th gear. when i reach the 2000-2200rpm range in any other gear, it smoothly passes that rpm range with no trouble. its a very distinct "rumble in your butt" sensation...like hitting thin rumble strips on the side of the road. Im leaning towards what AO was suggesting and plan to investigate both the O2s and the fuel system. It seems as tho there is a fuel starvation problem under heavier load...i was also getting a stalling effect that was happening at stoplights...the car's idle would just drop to zero and the car would stall out. anway....im sorry i keep posting about this but AW has a short attention span on the board (meaning as soon as its half way down the page its more or less an archive! haha...wish there was a way to bump the active threads back to the top...it would keep people from reposting as much i think)

Default Same boat.

If you keep talking about it perhaps someone new will see it and have an insight to the problem. Personally, I don't mind at all because I can pick up something new each time.

I didn't realize you had the drive shaft replaced. The carrier bearing is part of the assembly IIRC. Some out there have used a BMW bearing instead of replacing the whole shaft. I got word back from the shop that mine was within specification, so we can rule that out. However, I do have a leaking water pump...

Maybe the O2 sensor.

Default The fitting on my fuel filter split due to corrosion once.

Sprayed gas everywhere. It's not that hard to change.

i havent the foggyest idea of where to start. I dont have the bentley (read - im a MAC guy...aka no PC ) so i dont know where the respective parts are or where they attach. IF anyone out there could direct me as to how to do these 2 procedures i would greatly appreciate it. thanks. btw...how much are O2s and a fuel Filter out of curiousity? any good places to pick them up instead of the stealer?

Default The problem is with ICM(s)

I had the exact same problem. The solution for me was replacing one ignition control module (ICM). I spent a lot of money at a worthless mechanic. Then, I almost bought all new coil packs and spark plugs. I decided to try the ICM first. PTL I purchased the ICM at ecstuning.com/ The ICM's sit atop the airbox. There are two of them. I replaced only one.

Default Timing Off?

I had the a similar issue and it turned out to be a miss installed timing belt. Luckily it was not off enough to hurt the heads but enough to blow codes and CEL's light to flash. It would go into a dramatic shutter. Has your TB been replaced recently?
