I had the exact same problem. The solution for me was replacing one ignition control module (ICM). I spent a lot of money at a worthless mechanic. Then, I almost bought all new coil packs and spark plugs. I decided to try the ICM first. PTL I purchased the ICM at ecstuning.com/ The ICM's sit atop the airbox. There are two of them. I replaced only one.
First: This thread is over 5 years old, none of these posters are even still here AND the original poster sold that car 4 years ago.
As for one ICM being the problem...his misfires were on 5,7 & 8...those are not all on one ICM.
#1 ICM powers cylinders 1,4,6 & 7...ICM #2 powers 2,3,5 & 8. Each ICM is not dedicated to a bank of cylinders...they are mixed.
He was also getting a lean condition code (not a timing or ICM symptom) on bank #1, when 2 of the misfires were on bank #2. He was most likely having a fuel delivery problem, like fuel pump, pressure regulator, contaminated gas clogging injectors, etc...
