Default more on tranny thump

2001 S8 60k, just did tranny fluid/filter change. Though I've experienced mild tranny thump in the past, I just took a 5 hr road trip to VT and experienced two thumps, one was bad enough that my wife thought we ran something over. Both times I was going up a grade at about 70mph and gave it gas for a downshift to pass some slower drivers. Tranny hesitated that banged into gear. Not pleasant to say the least.
Any thoughts?

Default You need to readapt the throttle

We just discussed this, don't know if this also works on 00 and newer cars.....but try this:

Turn on the ignition only
Press the gas pedal slowly all the way to the floor over 20 or so seconds
Hold it for 5 seconds
Release it slowly over 20 seconds

Then start the car and see if it improves over the next couple of days.

Default clarification --

Since you missed the whole thread on this, and might need this clarified.. turn the ignition switch to RUN .. don't actually start the car.

Default LOL, oh come on...let him try it that way first!`

30 seconds from idle to WOT, then hold it at WOT for a few seconds, then back to idle over 30 seconds. I can see it now (if done w/ the engine running)....

VRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!

KAAAABBBOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!!

Colby

P.S. Actually the rev limiter would kick in, but still the thought of it is entertaining in a sick way.
