My 2000 A8 pulls to the left.

As many know, the car is sold. But the buyer wants me to fix the pulling problem first. Depending on how the tires are rotated, the car pulls to the left or the right. I'm told the alignment is slightly off, but the mechanic says Audi needs to do the alignment because they need their diagnostic tool for something after they adjust it. Something about the traction control getting screwed up after the alignment.
I have a vagcom, could I do this adjustment after somebody does the alignment? What does audi charge for an alignment usually?

Bill, their alignment guy, gives off a really good "quiet compentency" vibe, and the cars always track straight upon leaving.
Don't have traction control, other than via the right foot, so don't know about setting/calibrating anything with VAG-COM. That's a new one on me.
