My dad needs a trans on his A8, you guys used this guy on ebay?

Don't be so paranoid.
The neighbor, a friend as well, bought the car that I had driven home on trial. I didn't make the purchase. I thought it too rough, the niceness had rubbed off. But it cleaned up very nicely afterall. Still, he paid only $5500 for the vehicle, while I paid nearly $8K for my shiny "99", Both were private sales, local.
Now my friend and neighbor "Bill" and I both agree that these A8's are the cat's pajamas. Ride, quality, power... you name it! And we both agree, for the money vs milage we have put on these cars. I have over 35k and he has over 60K, ( he drives a lot!) If they blow, JUST WALK AWAY! These cars owe us NOTHING!
It's that simple!
Oh! We maintain them, Oil changes as required, and weekend tinkering etc. He even put in a new wind screen to get rid of the "stars" that had accumulated on the original. I recently replaced the trans output seal, and have replaced the trans Valve Body and fluid. We have even agreed that "someday" we will conspire to do the TB/ WP/ Belt pullys/ thermostat/etc change as a duo. Two cars in one day? Can it be done?????.
At any rate, let your own senses be your guide.
I'm changing the TB when the first drop of coolant leaves the water pump, or ANY new noise comes from the belt pullys or tensioner.
If I'm too late????? Well, those S8's are looking pretty nice these days!
