ok.. dropped my darn key twice this weekend.. first time it happened the key seemed a little loose... 2nd time i dropped it ***bang*** the darn key flies off the flob... i'm looking at where it came apart and i'm think some clasp just flew off but i couldn't find it....
soo.. when i got home i pulled out the spare key/remote and after examining the two side by side, i realize the key that broke really broke off the hinge.... i'm thinking i could probably just crazy glue the darn key back to the hinge, but with my luck it will break off in the ignition switch...
so my question.. how do i get a new key made to fit onto this remote with the broken hinge without having to replace the remote and paying a ridiculous amount of money for a remote programming

they want $80bucks just for the key.. and if the car has an immobilizer it will be an additional 1hour labor (approx $100) to code the darn key
and they wonder why people refer to them as $tealers!!!

I'm not sure if the '99 is different in any way. For example, I'm not sure where the Immobilizer comes into play on a switchblade key -- especially if you only broke metal.
I did the remote programming myself with the Audipages instructions & a spare key.
If you local Audi shop won't do you a favor on the key cut (admittedly, I've bought dealer-only parts from them), you might also check how much a local VW dealer wants.
