where we will both be in town. June and July are already hectic, but let's get in touch and see what we can work out.

97'-03' transmissions are interchangeable. The TCU has to be 97'-99'. I have a TCU 4D0 927 156 BH for sale $100 + shipping. Email me if you are interested.

Thanks Tozo! I think I'll take you up on that offer. I'll contact you off-thread and set something up.

I've been in real estate for over 16 years but haven't had the pleasure of meeting Brad. I started with Van Schaack and have been with RE/MAX for about 12 years now. I've done several commercial transactions but I stay mostly residential.

It might be that the bass vibration is some kind of resonance caused by the engine miss and shifting down prevents it by changing the rpm.
If there are no new codes to help out, VAG-COM logs of all sorts of thing like rpm, air and coolant temperatures, throttle position readings, etc may be useful.

I've purchased a "BH" series TCM from Tozo, and I will install it tommorrow after it arrives. I'm really curious to see if this changes anything. I installed my old "K" series one again this morning and drove the car into work. It performed perfectly, no misfire or shifting issues. One thing that I did notice was that the fuel mileage display was fixed at "19mpg" and that I had a zero with a slash through it on the display. Display was funcitonal prior to TCM removal. Hmm... A science project indeed.
