Default Is my water pump toast?

I have an '01 S8 with 58K miles. The coolant is not being circulated and the water temp rises dangerously within a few mile drive. I'm no mechanic, but this would seem to be a bad water pump. Am I correct?

If it is the water pump, should I go ahead and change the timing belt as well?

What a bummer of a Thanksgiving...

Default agreed, with that mileage I would be tempted to just change the thermostat. Someone here did it w/o

removing the TB. Just my .02, others might say do the belt and pump while you're in there...
