Default Navigation disk question.

Just bought an '01 S8. Awesome car, but it comes with the navigation disk for New England. I'm in Pennsylvania. Does anyone know if the VW disks from an '04 Toureg will work?

Default You'll probably get someone to give you a quick answer here in a minute.

I don't have nav, so don't pay close attention, so can't answer your question.

This site might, and is something you might want to bookmark.

Default There are 2 disc versions: C & D - s/b printed on the disc. The T'reg disc will work with D.

The '01/'02 car model year is about the cross over point when they switched from C to D. If your disc is original, it should be printed on it, along with the release date. If not, it's probably a C-Navi -- you can also tell by reading the contents of the INFO.TXT file.

Post back what you find and we can help you from there.

It's released 7/00
ZBW 001 DCA 07. That's what I have in the car.

Default You have C-Navi.

There are 2 newer releases than what you have: 7/2001 and 2/2004.

The '04 release is available direct from Navteq for $319 plus shipping. This includes all of the US excluding Alaska (10 discs) and Canada (1 disc). No one knows for sure if there will be another C-Navi update, since the last one took 2.5 years. I bought this set as soon as it came out. You can also get individual discs from them for something like $110 or $130 each.

Generic Blaupunkt version sets are available from other vendors for about $275. They're basically the same, but content will vary slightly.

You can sometimes find individual discs on eBay, too. Make sure it's C-Navi. If you go this route, the Mercedes COMAND discs and generic Blaupunkt and VW C-Navi discs work as well.
