Ok, I have my car in the garage for some testing. When tip is "energized" (shifter in tip), both yellow/green and yellow/blue show 12V. When I upshift, yellow/blue goes to 0V. When I downshift, yellow/green stays at 12V. I am assuming that this confirms the problem is in the shifter itself, and not the wiring or TCU. Paul, how hard is it to work on the shifter assembly? I assume its just a bad contact in the shifter. Are you familiar with the internals of the shifter assembly? Can I fix this problem w/o pulling the shifter? If I have to pull the shifter, I might as well just wait until I have to pull the dash apart again for my Nav Plus install. ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I wanted to have an upgrade on my 97' non tiptronic. I went to the dealer and they want $530 for the switch. It called Tiptronic control module. I haven't seen one yet, but it should be two micro switches ( it doesn't sound like $530). The "energizer" switch is replaceable with SPDT Roller Lever Switch 275-017A from Radio shack $ 2.69. You need to remove both left and right center consol trim, remove the shifter **** and sleeve and the shifter cover. The "control module" is on the right side it should be an easy fix. If you have the Bentley manual, it is under automatic transmission-37-12.

Got it out, kind of a pain actually (with it in the car). Thanks for the location link in Bentley. I have Bentley; guess I should use it more. Got it out; it is a metal/plastic housing holding two switches identical to the
"energizer" roller switch. I drilled out two aluminum rivets and was able to independently test each one. Downshift switch is bad. Guess I'll be going to Radio Shack tomorrow. Beats $530! Anyone interested in pics?
