need to replace driver side cv joint
does anyone have the url of reaxle? Also I was looking on and it seems like that side is way more then the pass side. Any idea why? thanks

that is what I saw a little longer but if you search on the web the right side is
about $114 but the left side $700-800 WTF? I will have to call raxle tomorrow. I already replaced the right side a few years ago.

who/what is raxles?
seems I need to replace my passenger side also. Is this a do-it-yourself task or take it to a shop task for a lightweight like myself to take on?
$175 is the driver's side cost from raxles? How much for the passenger side?

raxles.com (should be same cost for each side). They are remanned units but they use NEW CV joints
so basically only the shaft is used. You have to call them for the A8, don't think they have any listed on their website.
Yes, this is a DIY project. I have some pics that would help if you need them.

Re: raxles is the way to go - $175, new joints and he now includes all the hardware
I've been in the process of sourcing a left front axle to replace because of a broken axle due to damage in an accident. I found the cheapest price is a remanufactured unit from Advance Auto Parts. $100 with a $75 core refund.

Link to Advance Site

warning ... those are junk! RAXLES is the way to go!
a lot of the parts store ones (advance/pep boys/autozone)use crappy "one size fits all" joints with sized ends to fit different cars. They will end up going a lot sooner and sometimes in bad ways! I've seen it more than once. Call Marty at raxles and tell him your looking at the ones from advance. He'll probably tell u the same thing I just did! Also, tell him the kid with the A8 that broke the pass side hub up said hello!

I'm not suprised with what you're saying. I had similar experiances with an autopart store axle on my SVX, but I figured it had something to do with how rare the car was. I ended up using a used OEM axle and all was well. I'll probably do the same with my audi application. Cost is of some concern.
