But untill I run the VEMS/standalone engine managment I'd like to run the dizzy's/Motronic for the time being. So,
I had heard that the notch at the back of the Exhaust cams were a bit different than the older V8 motors. So I just was interested in some pics to view it myself.
Not that it would matter...I could just put a set of older 92-94 ABH 4.2 Exhaust cams in the ABZ heads. Then I could get the ABZ cams reground & reuse the ABZ valve covers to go back to coil on plug when I go with the VEMS.

& the only 2 Audi's that would make me leave the older V8's are the,
"00-" A6 4.2's...love the look of those cars! &
an Rs6...but I'm a glutton for punishment. & being privilaged enough to be able to take a 550hp Rs6 for a "little" spin can make a guy go all giddy! ;-)

The V8 seemed nimbler, probably due to the shorter wheel base. It was like there was more contact between the car and I. I also enjoyed the fact that they are hardly seen anymore.

It's hard to put down the A8 and all it's luxury features. You get spoiled and the 300 ponies with the 5 speed tranny come in real handy.

I weighed my A8 and it weighed a couple lbs. less than my old V8 quattro. That ought to give you an idea as to the performance difference between the two cars. The pre-facelift (97-99) A8s are lighter than the facelift (00-03). The braking is also better in the A8.

My next one will be th D2 S8, my favorite Audi.
