need a tranny rebuild or reman tranny
I live near Sioux Falls, SD and don't know anyone that wants to rebuild my tranny. TozoM8, Where do you live? LOL I wish my car could make it. My 1999 Audi A8 Quattro has 151k miles on it.
Tranny's been making metallic whining noises since it started getting cold outside. Noises get louder when shifting. It also clunks when I let off the gas at 60-65 MPH. Today, started hunting, slamming into gear (1,2,3) shuddering even under light acceleration and then began to slip so bad, I could barely keep up 40 MPH on flat ground.
I found a few "used" trannys as near as Minnesota for $1,600 ($200 freight shipping) and 110,000 miles on it....and I found a Shokan used tranny with 60,000 miles on it for about $2,000. I also found 2 reman trannys in the $2,500 range on ebay and some other web site.
However, I don't have the credit or cash for anything over $1,500 including installation right now. Anyone have any suggestions? I have a Audi dealer in Sioux Falls, and they're known for charging outlandish prices without accomplishing much "fixing". Great parts department, though.
