Bread and Butter E500 0->60 5.8 sec! I wish my A6 4.2 sport would do that.

Default simple maths

the change for the a8q from 5 speed to 6 speed results in an overall ratio spread of 6.03 rather than the old 4.7

this means that you can have a 20% lower 1st gear whcih obviously greatly improves initial acceleration. it also means that you have more torque available for your in-gear times as well. the 6-speed also allows multiple shifts (basically doing one shift while simultaneously preparing the next one).

i would assume the m-b 7-speed uses similar tricks and as a result provides an even greater benefit.

Still, you'd think a 'sport' would beat a 'family' sedan ;-)
