New (to me) '01 S8 road test opinion....
Just drove it back from Wilmington, DE (Winner Audi) to Cleveland. Performed like a dream. Stable at any speed, zero noise, 21 MPG even with an average of 70-80MPH with an occasional stint to 100, comfortable as hell....and incredible performance.
55k, all options except OnStar, full service records, BABIED...all for $21.5k
Why the hell did I ever look at BMWs?

Re: best price yet
Forgot the Recaros...no Recaros.
Solar sunroof, suede, Nav, Parktronic, Heated front & rear with ski sock, shades, Homelink, factory cell phone (disconnected, but there).
ON EDIT: Just found the original window sticker in the docs the dealer gave me. The doors do have suede panels, but the car does not have the Alcantra package.
...Sticker price was $78,305

Summer daily driver - '83 Porsche 911. Winter - '96 Honda Accord.
Yes, I know almost any car would be a step up from the Accord...
I would definitely recommend driving the S8, though. Having driven friends' BMWs and Volvos, I was still extremely impressed by the Audi.

That's the one.
It's in much better shape than they suggested...actually, it's nearly mint.
Interior is perfect, exterior has one very small dent (aspirin-sized) in the rear passenger door. The "scratches" shown in the pics look a lot worse than they are because whomever last waxed the car did a lousy job of buffing it. Even the actual scratches are all very shallow and should all buff out.
What the seller didn't mention in the ad:
It has the solar sunroof.
It has Alcantra. (ON EDIT: no, it doesn't...I was thrown off by the suede door panels, but it's not the Alcantra package)
It has the factory cell phone.
It has the New England and Mid Atlantic Nav disks.
It has full service records since new.
It had the O2 sensors replaced in January '06.
Interior is a 9.5+, exterior will be a 9 with a little detailing.
I was a little apprehensive about buying it unseen, but I was happily surprised.<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=S TRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=15005760105 0&rd=1,1">The E-Bay ad</a></li></ul>
