Hello all.
I've been following the forum since September, after purchasing my '99 A8 4.2l Quattro (68k, $17k). It is volcanic black with ecru interior, cold weather pkg. Previous owner lowered it 2 inches. I will post a pic once I get it into correct format.
Future mods: Satellite radio-will probably use the ashtray like several have done before, and exhaust when original needs replacement. Recently did 75k service and new brakes at dealer in San Antonio (good service but much more humble savings account now).
A8 beat out Caddy STS easily for my dollar.

Default Congrats

Yesterday I was at a light....three across, I was in the center "pole position", the right lane squeezes down and ends in about 1/4 mile....

Light turns, I give it about 1/3 pedal, I hear the car next to me giving it some gas, push the pedal down further....and pull away.

Ends up it was a Chevy Camaro IROC or something....the guy was pissed that I beat him!

You've got to love our car......that is the time I love having AUDIOS on my plates!

I'll go with XM...have used it before, and the mini-tuner will fit in the ashtray. I just hope I don't pick up a smoking habit...

Default Interior mount on XM radio

How did your sat radio work with the antenna mounted on the interior (saw your March posting), and can it be interfaced with the instrument cluster display?
I just got the XM Roady2, and assume it's the same you all are mounting in the ashtray, but don't want to put the antenna on the exterior unless I have to. Would like to put it on the hat deck, if exterior maybe upper corner of passenger side windshield. Appreciate the advice.

Default Hat deck mount did not work for me

I got a signal, but was very prone to drop outs. About every 2nd or 3rd overpass, I'd lose signal, that sort of thing. Assume it was that very fine grid of defrost wires causing the signal loss.

Ended up painting up a second antenna, and installing it on the decklid. It looks pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Huge increase in signal strength, no drop outs.

when i picked up my car it already had xm installed in the ashtray and the antennae was mounted behind the third brakelight inside the housing. it works really well and essentialy you still see the light as well. just an option.

Default My XM antenna is on the trunk

<img src="http://www.audipages.com/images/garage12.JPG">

After reading about JimR's problems, I didn't want to chance it....my GPS antenna is under the hat shelf, it works great there....but then again it's an Audi OEM system and I think it has great gain on the antenna.
