New noise after Mobil 1 trans fluid change

I had my shop flush the transmission on my 99 (116m mi.)and refill with Mobil 1 last week. Now I'm hearing a whirring noise until the car warms up. Could they have underfilled it? Or am I just a little paranoid because of all the threads regarding Esso, Mobil, Audi and Redline fluids??
On a brighter note, the Bilsteins, Eichbachs, and new tie rod ends made a HUGE difference. Thanks for all your input!

transmission. If the whining/whirring was constant and not just during startup it could be the transmission. Is it coming from the front or the transmission? How warm was it when they filled it?

I don't think it's the serp belt. Don't know the temp when it was refilled. Almost sounds like a pump?

The noise is from the hydraulic pump cavitating.....you had the filter changed, correct?
The only thing I could think of is the filter wasn't changed or the o-ring isn't seated properly or it could be underfilled.

They didnt change the filter because I had everything flushed and changed @100m miles. Filter makes sense, I'll get it changed and report back. Thanks Paul.

The filter being clogged is normally the problem with the slight noise until warmed up. It's because it has too much pressure drop across it for the pump not to cavitate.
Once the fluid warms up, it flows better and does not drop as much pressure across the filter and the pump stops cavitating.
Because you put the Mobil 1 in there, you might have freed up some deposits that have now clogged the filter more than before.....therefore increasing pressure drop.
Changing the filter would be the most logical step next and make sure you check the level using the standpipe overflow method (OEM) to ensure you have the correct level.

I have the same noise in my car (97A8) when I drive it in the morning. sounds like a pump coming on for a few seconds then it goes away, then it comes on again for a few seconds. only in the winter. As soon as the car warms up after about 10 minutes of driving, it goes away. Very curious to see if changing your filter makes it go away. It is definately not the level of the fluid because I made sure my level was right on with the Vag-com monitoring the temp while I filled it.
