Default New Rotors and pads for the S8- initial inpressions

So, since I couldn't go skiing this weekend (bum knee), I decided to finally install the new rotors and pads I bought a while ago for the S8. The rotors are slotted/drilled Brembo units I had custom machined from an eBay seller, and the pads are Ferodo DS2500s (per RYoung's recommendation Here).

After about 3 hours of installing rotors, pads, and bleeding the brake system, I headed out for the initial bedding-in session. I performed 5-6 60 MPH-5 MPH "emergency" stops, with a short cool down between stops (10-15 seconds). After that I drove normally for 10 minutes to let everything cool down to normal. After the bedding-in, I can say that the DS2500 pads:

-Have very good modulation and overall braking effectiveness.

- Do not squeal at all

It will take some time to really evaluate this setup and see how well it performs in day-to-day driving, but first impressions are very good!

mpollan- satisfied now ;-) Nag.......

Default Looks great, Doug. Keep us posted on driving impressions- sorry to hear about your knee

with all of the powder that's hitting the high country. We had Western Regionals at Winter Park and the SuperG got cancelled due to the heavy snowfall and blowing wind. SL and GS events were held, but the snow was pretty soft.

Anything serious, or just a tweak?

Default Sorry 'bout your knee Doug. I really was waiting for the spring thaw which will...

likely come in Autumn from the way you are getting dumped on out there. Looks like at the very least I will be scooping up those rotors - noice!! Here in DC there is so much stop/go without ample time to warm the brakes up squeal is a real concern with the D2500's I think. I imagine you and Jim up there in the hills get your brakes nice and warm quickly and regularly. Thanks for indulging me and my nagglyness. Now go do some driving so that you can provide some long(er) term perspectives ;-)

Default Just a tweak, should be good to go next weekend.

I should know better than to run a pair of GS racing skis through the bumps at the 'Jane ;-)

Got a link to your source of custom ebay rotors and then the pads? Sorry I know you likely mentioned this data upon parts acquistion post but any referral info greatly appreciatto - danka - I need to make me purchase within the coming week or so me rotors sound signs of agrindin'.

Get that knee better - no fun btdt. You're more man than I, 'bum knee' and out for skiing - soooooooo - let's change brakes??? Admirable, I say, I'd be wallowing.

Default T'was from the TriNet Pauly IIRC but alas they have no listing for da //S8 now - GB?

I'll ring 'em and see what they can whip up for us. I thinks Jim needs some too so that would be 3 sets which is not bad huh? Should motivate them I hope.
