Default I have seen the reverse of this in a A4.

It got stuck in full auto, no manumatic.
The switch was broken. for the lights you either have a broken or loose connection somewhere(check the rear driverside doorjam). Does the window work on that side?

Default Re: I have seen the reverse of this in a A4.

Yes the window works, and the backlight on the window switch works, so there is power going into the door. A few months ago it would not work, but if I opened the door and closed it a few times, it would work for a while.

Well I have these choices: drive, park, or neutral. My RC car does not have reverse, but this is an A8! It has a power rear sunshade for gods sake! heh

Default Which side light does not flash when setting the alarm? Front and back?

When the alarm fails to flash one side or the other, which side is it, and have you confirmed that both the front and back do not flash?

No double speed flashing of the turn signal on that side, even occasionally or with the headlights on?

Sorry to take your time with these questions. I'll look at the wiring diagram looking for what if anything these problems could have in common.

Default Thanks Tom. The driver side flashes. Front and fear. Pass side does not front and rear.

All lights work 100% when using the parking lights, hig beams, head lights, blinkers. NOTHING funny, ONLY when I arm the alarm.

Thanks for your effort!

Default Ok. Went back outside three hours later and......

... reverse worked instantly.

I shift into N, fine as always.

Into D, fine.

Into 4 display stayed on D

Into 3 display stayed on D

Into 2 worked fine ( was BLANK before).

Shifted UP into 3, fine. Huh?

Into 4 display stayed on 3

Into D display goes to D

Into N, fine.

Into R, fine.

Into N, fine.

Into D, fine

Into 4 stayed on D

Into 3 stayed on D

Into 2 jumps to 2.

Into 3, FINE.

Into 4 stayed on 3.

back to 3, FINE
first time 3rd has worked on the way DOWN to it.

back to 2, fine.

back to 3 fine

back to 2 fine

back to 3 fine
looks like 3 is fine now.

shift to into 4. FINE.
first time 4th worked again.

Tried them all, one by one, all seems to be well NOW.

Now I am really thinking F125. Anyone else?

Default Check also the fuse for the TCM, in the electronics box

Switch F125, if broken in a weird way could be the problem. Another remote possibility is that the main fuse for the TCM is blown or making a bad connection, yet sometimes the TCM gets enough power to operate not from its normal power wire but from wires from the separately fused F125 switch (not exactly impossible depending on what's inside the TCM). The TCM fuse is in the corner of a fuse & relay panel in the electronics box just ahead of the windshield in the passenger side.

No PRND432 means no communication from the TCM which is why I'm wondering more about power than the F125 switch.

The switch supplies battery voltage to the TCM on various wires according to shifter position from a separate fuse (fuse 6 in group 3 in the ordinary fuse box). We know this fuse is good because it operates the backup lights.

If you do decide to unplug the TCM for troubleshooting or contact cleaning, disconnect the negative battery terminal first.

The other electric problems have no obvious relation to the transmission. The alarm box itself has separate left & right turn signal connections, so that issue is not likely to be outside the alarm controller or its connections.

Default The intermittent nature seems to point to a moisture / electrical contact problem.

Or at least, that seems most likely to me.

multifunction switch on side of tranny is a known problem. I'd check that, too.
