Nitrous Install, De-Chroming, and Wheels on the S8
I finally got some time to throw nitrous on the S8. The install went well, although it took much longer than anticipated (what project doesn't, right?). It is a stealth install - nothing under the hood shows, the trunk looks stock with the bottle, heater, and opener hidden under the spare tire cover, and the switches can be easily hidden by closing the cupholder door. Everything is operated from the cabin, down to the remote bottle opener (for those on-the-fly moments when you just wish you had a little boost). Application is a 60HP dry shot. Upon testing the verdict says ... puts 2 car lengths on my buddy's CTS-V from 0-90ish.
As for the de-chroming, I dropped it off at the local paint shop to lose the crappy fading and spotty aluminumn trim garnished along the side that Audi couldn't bother to properly engineer clear-coat for (and for which the dealer wanted over $3K to replace), to be covered with black paint. I think the looks are better for it, and I think I am going to do the aluminum window trim black next. With the black windows, the only thing remaining shiny will be the wheels and mirrors.
As for the wheels, obviously those are the chrome RS4 units, but only in 18", and to me these wheels are too small in that size. I am still trying to decide how I feel about the looks of these on the car, but I know they look better than my extensively worn stockers. Comments and criticism on these encouraged...

Awesome work, great look on the blackout. One comment though,
how about clearing the corner YELLOW reflector?<ul><li><a href="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/clearcornermarkersfacelift.html">http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/clearcornermarkersfacelift.html</a</li></ul>

nicely done. definitely looks mean.
did you disable your nav? or did you re-route the **** elsewhere? the switches look great btw. any chance you could do a write up on the install and toss it to PaulW for Audipages? Again, nice work.

Re: Whoa! Way coool!!!
Dry shot into the bottom of the airbox, just under the filter. The reason I did this is so it could not be seen, even if you were looking for it. The plastic of our airbox is so thick and hard that I simply drilled and tapped it and mounted the nozzle directly in it. The lines then route neatly below the bottom of the airbox and are tucked and zip-tied throughout the bottom of the car, running along with the fuel lines. The trunk is drilled in the spare tire well. I chose the center section because of course our evap canister is there and there is a rubber seal around the cover of this, thereby providing a great way to simply snake the line through while still providing a leak-free seal. Unfortunately it isn't a kit and was installed by yours truly - everyone was terrified of nitrous on an S8 - for what reason I will never know; if there ever was an over-engineered V8, trust me on this one, it's this one. When done correctly, nitrous isn't something to be terrified of - it's been on nearly every vehicle I've owned, including the most hilarious, which was a 150-shot on my '98 Mark VIII which ate a BMW M5 for breakfast on the highway one fateful afternoon (man oh man was he confused/pissed). Now, that was of course a wet shot, which I did not want to do on this engine for a couple of reasons. The first is the intake manifold - it is so complex that there are plenty of places for fuel to puddle, and fuel puddling = boom. The next is that the compression ratio is so very high (on the S at least) that you wouldn't want to run the kind of shot you'd need a wet setup for anyway, at least not on pump gas IMHO.
I did remove the menu and nav controls because I never ever used the menu and the nav was a joke to me. However, you don't have to rip yours out - there are other places to mount them. Another option would be to sacrifice your cupholder and put them there (that wasn't an option for me, since I already cuss the Germans everytime I have someone with me and need a place to put 2 drinks). You could also put them on the knee bolster under the steering wheel ... anywhere really, use your imagition on what works best for you.
I will try to work on a write-up if the interest is there from a few of you - I believe one person has already asked.

Beautiful

If you really want new wheels, I second the vote for BBS LMs. Go for the real ones! Best money I ever spent! Check out the photo from KYNZ's wheel gallery
